Pastor William Myers

Pastor William Myers

Position

Hello all, my name is William Myers, but you can call me Will. Starting in September, I’ll be beginning my work as your pastor and I wanted to tell you a bit about myself. I was born the second child to Margaret and Bill Myers in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. My mother’s background is in Christian Education and my father is a Presbyterian Minister. My sister is three year’s older than me and now lives in Seattle and works as a librarian. About a year after I was born, the whole family moved to Iowa, where we stayed for five years before moving to Monmouth, Illinois. My family spent twelve years in Monmouth from which I graduated in 2013.
After high school I moved to Colorado for my first year of college while my parents moved to Michigan, where they reside today. After my freshman year I transferred to Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and graduated in 2017 with a degree in Peace and Justice Studies.
I then attended Princeton Theological Seminary. During my three years in seminary, I focused on developing skills for ministerial outreach directed towards rural communities. I was lucky to be able to intern at the Reformed Church of Highland Park for a summer where I learned how to create sustainable community ministries. After my internship, I continued attending the RCHP and was blessed to meet my wife, Nimmi, after church one Sunday. I then spent a year interning at Forest Grove Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania where I learned the ins and outs of church life, the specifics of worship, and was able to better understand how to develop ministry alongside a congregation.
Nimmi and I dated through seminary, were engaged last August, and were married this past June when we eloped to my parents. I say eloped because after having to postpone the wedding time and time again due to the pandemic, we just decided one Monday to drive up to my Dad’s church and get married that Thursday. It was an intimate service as we only had seven people in attendance including us. In the end, it may not have been the service we had spent months planning, but it was still the happiest day of our lives and we look back on it fondly.
I graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary this past spring, and Nimmi graduated from Rutgers around the same time, with her Ph.D. in Exposure Science specializing in bioaerosols. She now has a post-doctoral position at Rutgers where she works on projects related to a surrogate Coronavirus.
I am excited to get to know each one of you personally as we begin this journey together. Frenchtown seems like a wonderful community and Frenchtown Presbyterian sounds like a church devoted to worshiping God and furthering the will of God in this world and I look forward to joining with you all in that mission.
